This is Hughes
Phill Hughes is coming up big for the Yankees and keeping the faith for Javier Vasquez.Vasquez has three loses and one win, this guy is no good. I think Yankees should try Sergio Mitre in his spot. If Vasquez can`t win a game, why not? Hughes had a seven inning shutout against the Chicago White Sox yesterday giving up only four hits with an ERA of 1.44. Hughes has turned out to be a work horse, he pitched a total of 25 innings with 417 pitches. Mark Teixeira looks like he is coming alive with four hits in this game, he had two runs and two RBIs. Vasquez will likely be out of the line up for the Boston Red Sox series.

With Their First Round Pick Giants Select...
The New York Giants was 31st last year with giving up touchdowns. With our first rounder Giants grabbed Jason Pierre-Paul,did it help the G-Mens` needs to be one of the best defenses in football? Well lets break this down, before the draft Osi Umenyiora was a little upset with the organization about his starting position. The rumors flew around that he was going to be traded but Giants denied. Now if your plans are to keep Osi why the hell would you grab a first rounder DE. When clearly our needs are at O-line, but mainly MLB. I was very upset with Jerry Reese when he got a DE when he should of traded up to grab Ranaldo McClain. That is not the end of it, the Giants continue to draft, not grabbing a LB until the FOURTH ROUND! Come On you expect a 4th rounder to be our starting Middle Line Backer, Phillip Dillard. Unless they have something up their sleeve I say C for the grade on our draft. Here is a clip with Tom Coughlin to smooth some things out.

Iron Man Pettitte
Andy Pettitte was an unstoppable force this evening against the Texas Rangers. Pettitte pitched eight innings for the Yankees with only two runs allowed and an era of 1.35. Talk about humiliation the Rangers could get anything going off of Iron Man Pettitte. Oh!, and did i mention my boy Mark Teixeria AKA Big Tex hit his first home run of the season, ha ha and it was against his former team, I love it! The Yankees swept the Rangers with today`s win and are on a four game winning streak and improve to 9-3. Yankees next game will be on Tuesday at 10:00 against the Oakland Athletics.

Home Opener A Success
Yanks defeat Angels in home opener 7 to 5. Andy Pettitte pitched a score-less six innings. Derek Jeter hit a home run in the bottom of the third into center field. Mariano Rivera finished out the game of the Yankees home opener. It was an emotional moment for Hideki Matsui when he stepped into the batters box and the record breaking crowd welcomed him back, not as a Yankee but as the MVP of the 2009 World Series Champs. Yankees had hot bats from the get go, if they keep this up and keep the pitching strong I say they can get to the World Series for a repeat.

A Shameful Defeat
I would love to know how the Yankees gave up a four to nothing lead. C.C. Sabathia was doing good until he dropped the ball in the in the fifth. He gave up five runs in 5 1/3 innings. This is just the beginning of the season I won`t threat this loss. Yanks play Boston again on Tuesday, starting pitcher is going to be A.J. Brunett. How about that 455 foot homer by Granderson? Beautiful

Stone Wall Grant
Giants sign veteran safety Deon Grant from Seattle Seahawks. Grant has played 144 consecutive games and seven post season games in nine seasons. Grant is among the top five active players to play in the most games consecutively. 285: Brett Favre,192: Peyton Manning,167: Ronde Barber,151: London Fletcher, 144: Deon Grant. Giants are known to throw in veterans into their roster for experience. Adding Grant is a good idea because he is not an injury prone player. In the past few years Giants have signed players that got hurt in training camp and wasn't able to play till mid-season. I think this was a good pick up because he can be ready to go if Kenny Phillips isn't able to go. Off Season Report

Javier Vazquez Shuts Down Phillies
Javier Vazquez had four strike outs in two innings and allowed a homer off Jimmy Rollins in the first against the Phillies. This was Vazquez's first game for the spring and he looked very good. He was on the Yankees in 2004 then was traded back to them this year. The Yankees rotation looks pretty good and they needed to fix up the back end which they did. Vazquez could be the answer for the Yankees, in his whole career he pitched 2490 innings and 2253 strike outs. This is a great pitching rotation: C.C. Sabathia, A.J. Brunette, Andy Pettitte, and Javier Vazquez, the fifth spot is still in battle between Joba Chamberlain, Phil Hughes and another competitor Sergio Mitre. I can't wait to see them in the regular season.
